Lake Mead NRA schedules February events

BOULDER CITY, Nev.  – The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening Feb. 1 to 29.

Ranger Program: Star Party, Feb 1

Join a ranger at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Boulder Beach Amphitheater to learn more about the stars that make up the night sky. The Las Vegas Astronomical Society will be on hand for telescope viewing of distant constellations and far-away planets from 6-8 p.m. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Hike: Arizona Hot Spring, Feb 8

Join a ranger Feb. 8 for a strenuous hike down White Rock Canyon, then looping up through Arizona Hot Spring. Participants will hike for a round-trip total of 6.5 miles past granite boulders to the Colorado River, then climb a 20-foot ladder and hike through natural hot springs back to the trailhead.  For more information and to make a reservation, call 702-293-8990.

Join a ranger Feb. 29 for a hike cross-country into the Pinto Valley Wilderness for a view of Boulder Narrows and beyond. Bring binoculars to capture a glimpse of wildlife.
