Kingman Women Making History Committee now seeking nominations for 42nd annual awards      

KINGMAN — The Kingman Women Making History Committee is announcing applications are open for nominations for the 42nd Annual Awards Ceremony to be held on Sunday March 1, at St. John’s Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave. The event will be in the social hall at 2 p.m.

The theme this year is Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.   Each year the national association establishes the theme for honoring extraordinary women in the month of March. 

The scope of this project is to honor living women who have made a one-time contribution of major significance or a series of on-going contributions over a longer period.  Through their involvement, the recipient should serve as a positive role model for current and future generations and will have demonstrated through their lives a tradition of activism and accomplishment characterized by leadership, professionalism and integrity. 

They must be permanent residents of the Kingman area for at least 10 years, have had a positive impact on the community and have not previously been a recipient in any category of the Women Making History Awards.  The categories are as follows: Arts, Professions, Volunteerism, Public Service, (including law enforcement, Politics, State, County and City Workers, Military), Business, Religion/inspirational, Pioneering, Education, Health/Medical, Lifetime Achievement and Other.  The Lifetime Achievement nominee must be a 25+ year resident and an age of 55+.

The nominations are due Thursday January 29, at 5 p.m. You may submit online or print the nomination and mail it in to Women Making History c/o Desert De Oro Foods, Inc. P.O. Box 4179. Kingman, AZ 86402-4179. The group also sponsors a scholarship for young women. The scholarship forms may be found on the same website.
