Kingman team hosts tournament; play starts this morning

The City of Kingman and a local team are hosting a portion of a prestigious senior softball tournament this weekend. Based in Sacramento, California, the Senior Softball USA has moved its Spring World National Championship tournament from St. George, Utah to Kingman and Bullhead City.

Some 38 teams are competing at Rotary Park in Bullhead City and 36 teams are battling at the seven field Centennial Park Complex in Kingman.  Winners of the various age divisions and bracketed levels of play qualify for the National Tournament of Champions held in Florida each February.

Play at Centennial Park begins at 8:00 a.m. this morning, Friday and continues to championship games on Sunday.

A Kingman-based team sponsored by Taco Bell gets its first chance to play at home after touring the region for seven years. Kingman Senior Softball (KSS) will play in the 55 AAA division.

KSS begins play at 11:00 a.m. on Field #4 against Michael’s Auto (WA) before a second seeding game at 2:00 p.m. against Graywolves (NM). KSS will play its first tournament bracket game at 6:00 p.m.
