Kingman City Council recognizes 2025 Spring Citizens Academy graduates

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman proudly recognized the graduates of the 2025 Spring Citizens Academy at last night’s City Council meeting. Mayor Ken Watkins and the entire City Council extended their heartfelt congratulations to the participants, celebrating their achievement and dedication to civic engagement.

This year’s graduates include: Debra Botts, Jack Botts, Nicole Broh, Corey Byrd, James Conlin, Ryan Devault, Dick Dobson, Michael Grim, Ron Hjelmeseth, Neil MacDonald, Craig Matthews, Corena Martinez, Mercedes Ripps, Jim St. Pierre, and Smiley Ward.  Since the inception of the Academy in 2022, it has seen 71 graduates complete the program.

The Citizens Academy is a free seven-week program that provides Kingman residents with an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at how their city operates. Participants engage in interactive presentations, facility tours, and open discussions with department leaders, gaining valuable insight into a variety of municipal functions. These include everything from road construction and park maintenance to public safety, city planning, and the day-to-day operations that keep Kingman running efficiently.

“This program is a cornerstone of community connection and education,” said Mayor Ken Watkins. “The Citizens Academy not only informs residents about how their city functions, but also inspires them to get involved and become active partners in shaping Kingman’s future.”

The next Citizens Academy is anticipated to take place in the Fall of 2025. For more information, visit: https://www.cityofkingman.gov/government/citizens-academv
