KINGMAN, Ariz. – An encounter that escalated into a vehicle pursuit has led to a probation-guaranteed plea agreement for a Lake Havasu City man. Terms of the deal for Ryan Kilde, 45, were detailed during a July 29 change of plea hearing in Kingman.
Kilde pleaded guilty to one count of endangerment, reduced from an aggravated assault by domestic violence charge. Four other charges are dismissed in the deal.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney James Gilmore said that Kilde had been in a romantic relationship with a woman who he confronted on Jan. 21 in her vehicle at a gas station at the intersection of Sweetwater Avenue and Acoma Boulevard. He told Judge Ryan Esplin that an argument ensued before the woman drove away, with the defendant following in his pickup truck.
A police report narrative said Kilde pursued the victim at a high rate of speed before his vehicle sideswiped hers, resulting in damage to both.
While the plea agreement spares the defendant from a possible prison term, Judge Esplin can still order up to one year in the Adult Detention Facility at an Aug. 27 sentencing hearing.
