Journey Church’s Trunk-or-Treat attracts over 3,000 community members every year

KINGMAN- On Halloween, October 31, Journey Church came together to create an environment for all to celebrate the holiday. The Journey Church Trunk-or-Treat holds one of the largest of its kind in Kingman, with over 3,000 Kingman residents attending the event each year. The event was completely free, with seven different bouncy houses, and carnival games such as a turtle race game. They offered free dinner and a photo opportunity inside of the church.

The church began holding their Trunk-or-Treats in 2020 after the restrictions due to COVID-19 were released. Since then, Journey Church has offered families a safe, community-building event to attend each Halloween.

This year, the church showcased its new parking lot by using the new space to display the trunks. Some 53 trunks in total occupied the parking lot, and hundreds of volunteers pitched in to make all aspects of the event happen. It’s stated that it takes months for this annual event to be planned. Pounds of candy are donated to the church by members of the church and people in the Kingman community. Volunteers such as church members, worship team leaders, and even the youth program all directly fund their independently-themed trunks. Many trunks had Christian-themed uplifting messages to them such as “You’ve got a friend in Jesus”, “Jesus is the rock”, and one that is themed off the fruits of the spirit. All other finances of the Trunk-or-Treat are directly funded by the church.

Journey Church’s mission is to bring Kingman together to “make disciples who make disciples”. They have four Sunday services; 8:15, 9:45, 11:15, and 4:05. Journey’s 11:15 service provides accessibility to ASL. The church is located at 3782 North Bank Street.
