FT. MOHAVE – Before a Fort Mohave man was sentenced in his drug case Tuesday, he was asked why he failed to attend his March 24 sentencing hearing in court.
“I was scared,” Joshua Narron, 38, told Judge Billy Sipe. “I was scared I was going to be sent to prison.”
Sipe told Narron that he had intended to place him on probation, but was leaning toward a prison term because of his failure to show up for his first sentencing indicated he might be a poor candidate for probation.
Narron was arrested in Bullhead City last Oct. 27 when contacted by police investigating a report of a man passed out with his vehicle running at gas pumps in the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive. Officers confiscated scales and other drug paraphernalia, a weapon, fentanyl and other illegal pills and almost 24 grams of methamphetamine.
Narron is convicted of attempted possession of dangerous drugs for sale in a plea deal dismissing a half-dozen other charges.
Sipe chided Narron for costing his mother the $10,000 she lost when the bond she posted to secure his released was forfeited for his failure to attend the March hearing.
Sipe spared Narron from prison and placed him on probation for three years. Narron was ordered to serve 90 days jail and perform 100 hours of community service.
