KINGMAN — A woman who was intoxicated when she drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee into an alcoholism treatment program facility in Bullhead City will serve a short jail sentence, provided she complies with terms of the plea agreement she entered in Kingman on September 30.
Bullhead City police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Brandi Ward, 46, was behind the wheel when the Jeep entered the parking lot and plowed through the west wall of the Alano Club at 384 Marina Boulevard on October 22, 2024.
Deputy Mohave County attorney James Schoppmann said three women were seated at a table when struck by the vehicle that came to a stop inside the damaged structure. Schoppmann said the women sustained relatively minor injuries, though one of them is dealing with some ongoing medical issues.
Two of the victims appeared by ZOOM during the hearing, telling Judge Billy Sipe they are supportive of the plea deal. One of them said there’s room for Ward in the “sobriety community”, provided she complies with various terms of probation.
Ward pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and an extreme drunk driving charge because her blood alcohol content was measured at more than twice the legal limit.
The plea deal requires Judge Sipe to order a 30-day county jail stay and to place Ward on supervised probation at an October 27 sentencing hearing.
