Interviews slated for Superior Court Judge, Clerk positions

KINGMAN – Members of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s executive staff will visit Kingman next week to conduct interviews of finalists contending for appointment to two prominent legal positions. Citizens will be able to offer public comment and monitor the interviews for Superior Court Judge, while the process will be closed to the public for the Superior Court Clerk position.

Interim Clerk Christina Spurlock, Constable Mike Cobb and Rideout Law Office legal assistant Jessica Van Lent will be interviewed behind closed doors next Friday morning (July 16) at the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the county administration building at 700 W. Beale St. An appointee would serve out the term created when former clerk Virlynn Tinnell exited to serve as Justice of the Peace in April.

Arizona assistant attorney General Amelia Gardner and current Mohave County Court Commissioners Douglas R. Camacho, Megan A. McCoy and Kenneth L. Gregory are finalists to serve out the term of the newly retired Honorable Charles W. Gurtler. Citizens can comment on the judicial applicants at 11:30 a.m. while the interviews will follow.

Gardner, Camacho, McCoy and Gregory will be interviewed at 1:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively. Governor Ducey will confer with staff before making both appointments.
