LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Fire Department has recognized the Lake Havasu Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) on the installation of their 500th residential Knox box. The residential Knox box is a secure system that offers emergency access to a home for residents that are unable to open the door for responders. The availability of emergency access provides peace of mind and prevents the unnecessary damage that occurs when forcible entry is made. The Lake Havasu City Fire Department provides the boxes free of charge to residents that are elderly, live alone, or have reduced mobility. Installation and maintenance is provided by CERT, also free of charge. On this milestone, CERT is celebrating the installation and removal of 500 boxes since 2012. This service has been made possible over the years by generous community support in the donation of boxes or funds to restock the boxes.
Residents that would like to see if they qualify and to be placed on the waiting list for a Knox box can contact fire department administration at 928-855-1141, or by email at lhcfire@lhcaz.gov.
Members of the community that would like to donate a Knox box for rotation within the community can place an order at https://www.knoxhomebox.com/community. The preferred donation is model number 1501, at a cost of $170. The fire department address may be used on the order for installation, location, and shipping address: 2330 McCulloch Blvd N, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
