Havasu receives national recognition for excellence in financial reporting

LAKE HAVASU CITY — Lake Havasu City has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, signifying that the City’s financial report meets the highest standards for transparency, accuracy, and accountability.

The report was reviewed by an impartial panel and judged to demonstrate a strong commitment to full disclosure, as it clearly communicates the City’s financial story in a way that is both meaningful and accessible to readers.

“It is always an honor to receive GFOA recognition,” said Administrative Services Director Jill Olsen. “Widely regarded as the highest standard in governmental financial reporting, this recognition underscores our team’s dedication to responsible financial stewardship and transparency.”

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is a professional association serving more than 25,000 members across the United States and Canada. GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research to support strong financial stewardship in the communities its members serve.

Lake Havasu City has earned this distinction through the dedication of its finance professionals and its continued focus on responsible fiscal practices that support long-term sustainability and community confidence.

“Consistent, high-quality financial reporting is essential to good governance,” said City Manager Jess Knudson. “This recognition reflects our organization’s focus on accountability and thoughtful planning for the future of Lake Havasu City.”
