LAKE HAVASU CITY — Lake Havasu City is proud to announce it has been named a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, recognizing the City’s commitment to urban forestry and the ongoing efforts of its Parks and Recreation Department.
The designation was formally shared in a letter to Mayor Cal Sheehy, highlighting Lake Havasu City’s dedication to community livability and environmental stewardship. This national recognition reflects the City’s investment in maintaining a healthy and vibrant environment for residents and visitors.
“In a desert community like ours, the work that goes into maintaining and growing our tree canopy is especially important,” said Mayor Cal Sheehy. “We have received this designation for many years. This recognition highlights the City’s ongoing focus on enhancing quality of life for our residents.”
The City extends its appreciation to Parks and Recreation Director Gabby Vera, Superintendent Guy Reynolds, and Field Supervisor and local arborist Craig Geary, along with their team, whose dedication and pride in their work are visible throughout the community. We also appreciate our partnerships with organizations such as Keep Havasu Beautiful, which help shape and grow Lake Havasu City’s tree canopy.
“This is something our community can be proud of,” said City Manager Jess Knudson. “We appreciate our Parks and Recreation crews for the care they put into maintaining our parks and trails. Their efforts make a visible difference in our community every day.”
To earn Tree City USA recognition, a city must meet four core standards, including maintaining a tree board or department, adopting a community tree ordinance, investing in urban forestry, and observing Arbor Day.
Lake Havasu City is honored to be part of a nationwide network of communities committed to responsible tree management and environmental stewardship. The Tree City USA program is led by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
