Havasu cautiously lifts business capacity limits

LAKE HAVASU CITY – There’s a renewed sense of optimism in Lake Havasu City, western Arizona’s Colorado River tourist destination 2-1/2 hours south of Las Vegas. On March 5, Arizona State Governor Douglas A. Ducey lifted specific occupancy percentage limitations for businesses. The distribution of vaccinations locally and statewide is now underway. Local mask mandates were lifted last September based upon the significant decline of infection and hospitalization rates in Mohave County. Face coverings continue to be recommended along with social distancing, but many businesses continue to require customers to wear them in their establishments. Regarding the pandemic, “The worst is clearly behind us,” says Terence Concannon, president/CEO of Go Lake Havasu. “While masks and social distancing continue to be a good idea, being outdoors in the Arizona sunshine, on the lake or golf courses, or eating on restaurant decks with lake views is good for body and soul.” Concannon predicts a strong spring and summer season due to pent-up travel demand and a full slate of special events planned for this popular lake vacation spot. The Dixie Bell Sails Again – After many years of setbacks and intensive restoration, one of Lake Havasu City’s most famous icons returned to the water this month. A 68-ton, 32-foot tall historic replica riverboat set sail once again after being in drydock for a decade. The iconic paddlewheeler originally known as River Queen , renamed Dixie Bell, operated on Lake Havasu from the early 1980s through 2011, providing daily service to the community, tourists and private functions.

Thousands of visitors travel to Lake Havasu City each year to enjoy the city’s personal watercraft scene, including the world-famous Body Beach and the prestigious International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) World Finals.
