Havasu announces name for downtown space

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City announces that the expected downtown gathering space will be officially named Main Street Commons. Located at the corner of McCulloch Boulevard and Querio Drive, this new public space is set to become a hub for events, entertainment, and community connection.

Residents selected “Main Street Commons” through a public naming contest launched last fall. Over the past five months, city staff received nearly 500 creative name submissions. City staff narrowed the list to a selection of finalists and Main Street Commons emerged as the winner.

“This name truly reflects the heart of our downtown and the vision for the space,” said Gabby Vera, Parks and Recreation Director. “We wanted a name that embodies community, gathering, and the spirit of Lake Havasu City, and Main Street Commons does just that.”

The site design features a concrete plaza, shade structures, large grassy areas, and restrooms and provides an inviting venue for public gatherings and events. The Partnership for Economic Development and Go Lake Havasu are also collaborating on a concession stand and storage that serves event organizers and other city-related activities.

Main Street Commons is 94% funded with prize winnings from the America’s Best Communities Competition and grant funding from Arizona State Parks and Trails. The space is set to open this spring.
