Granddaddy of all yard sales May 4

CHLORIDE – A bi-annual all-town yard sale begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday May 4h, and ends when the last treasure hunter leaves town. Multitudes travel to this former mining town seizing upon amazing steals. This twice a year event is often described as a bargain hunter’s dream. Cars, machines, toys, guns, household supplies, antiques, you name it and it’s usually on display for sale. Gift shops also present amazingly reduced priced items.

The well-known bake-sale, a culinary delight, begins 9 a.m. at the former gas station located at second and Tennessee Streets. Yesterday’s Restaurant is open at 8 a.m. ready to serve those seeking nourishment. Families are encouraged to bring their entire clan and join in both sale and other activities such as visiting the Jim Fritz Museum, historic jail, and world famous Roy Purcell Murals.

At high-noon, High Desert Drifters are expected to perform their crowd pleasing gun-fight performance.

A free yard-sale map is available at Mineshaft Market, located half a block down on the right after stopping at what used to be Chloride’s only stop sign.
