LAKE HAVASU CITY – ‘Twas the week before Christmas as the Lake Havasu Library was still providing arts and crafts classes that everyone could enjoy.

Knotty Knitters is a group whose crafts can be seen all over Lake Havasu. For the past 11 years, they’ve yarn bombed objects around town with knitted materials. Their displays can be viewed at McCulloch Blvd locations like The Kaws and Grace Arts.

Over the years, the group has donated their unique crafts to local nonprofits such the Elks Lodge and the Havasu Community Health Foundation. The library hosted another creative event the following day with their adult crafting class.

It was a class where participants were able to create their own Christmas tree ornaments using popsicle sticks. Later that day, the Beading Group met there for their weekly meeting.

The group was first originated by Janna Lee Hankin. Hankin along with other colleagues who used to teach similar beading classes at Ryan’s Bead Gallery.

When the department store closed, some of the teachers missed beading activities and formed the Beading Group to continue creating different designs. Knotty Knitters meets every Monday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and the Beading Group meets every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Adult Crafting class was on Tuesday, December 19. That class was not an ongoing weekly one but rather another way that the library creates interest for the community to get involved in holiday inspired activities.

All classes took place at the Lake Havasu Library. The library has many weekly activities for adults and children that are free to the public.

It’s a great way to meet the people of the community and possibly develop some lasting friendships.
