KINGMAN – The Flag Fire raging in about 600 acres of the Hualapai Mountains has resulted in the evacuation of approximately 200 homes in Pine Lake, as well as the closure of the Hualapai Mountain Resort and the Park.
The fire broke out on the back side of the Hualapai Mountains between Flag Mine and Wild Cow Campground around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon and has burned approximately 600 acres.
Strong wind Sunday out of the south and southwest gusting at 20 to 30 mph pushed the blaze to the north. As of Sunday evening, the blaze was moving north towards the footprint of the Dean Fire that burned more than 5,000 acres in 2013, and south of the Ridge Fire that burned more than 3,000 acres in 2020. There is a chance for showers this morning in the fire area, which may help contain the fire.

Reported Evacuations as follows:
GO – Mohave County Sheriff conducting evacuations of Hualapai Mountain Park, Lodge, and the Pine Lake Community. Please use Hualapai Mountain Rd. and be aware of public safety vehicles responding to the area.
SET – Atherton Acres and Pinion Pine communities are currently on SET status for evacuations. Evacuation Orders are Imminent for this area, please start preparing for evacuations.

Hualapai Mountain Rd. is currently CLOSED at MP 10 to everyone except evacuees and first responders.
For those affected by the evacuation orders a Red Cross Shelter is located at Palo Christi School, 500 Maple St, Kingman.
Multiple fire units are on site The Hualapai Park Road is closed to Mile Post 10. Several air attack drops have taken place so far despite the heavy smoke in the area including a lead plane, three large air tankers, three single engine air tankers, three helicopters, and five hotshot crews.
A helicopter is scheduled to do a reconnaissance over the fire area this morning and officials say a better assessment of acreage and full situation should be available after that flight.
