Fatality on Fed-Ex property a mystery

KINGMAN – A workplace fatality recently occurred at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park, but information is pretty scarce beyond that. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) confirms it is investigating the fatality on Fed-Ex property on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

OSHA spokesman Trevor Laky said he can provide no information other than it is investigating the incident.

Spokesman Anita Mortensen said one or more members of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the airport, but deferred all questions to OSHA.

Acting Chief Don Dallman said Northern Arizona Fire District personnel responded to a call at 2:34 p.m., but returned to base when informed the incident was re-branded as an “Alpha Call”, a lower level emergency not requiring a fire department response. “We later learned it was a whole lot more than that,” Dallman said.

River Medical Ambulance Operations Manager Brad Shelton said a two-person ambulance was dispatched to 4075 Mohave Drive at 2:37 p.m. He said a critically injured male subject was transported to KRMC but was unable to indicate when or where the death occurred.

Attempts to reach Fed-Ex media and plant officials for additional information were unsuccessful. Economic Development Manager Bennett Bratley said Fed-Ex is private property and Kingman city officials were not privy to incident information.
