City seeks volunteers for Desert Clean-Up

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., February 7, 2024 – The City of Bullhead City is seeking volunteers to join a desert clean-up event being organized through a joint effort by The City, Golden Vertex, Republic Services, Mohave County’s ERACE program, and the Bureau of Land Management. The clean-up is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Volunteers, along with staff from the participating organizations, will clean the side road banks along Silver Creek Road East of Bullhead Parkway, focusing on removing large items, such as tires, dumped furniture, electronics, and concrete. Participants will also gather and remove smaller items, including spent bullet casings and other trash and debris.

Garbage pickers and bags will be provided by participating organizations, along with heavy equipment and staff as needed for the removal of large items. Participants will be responsible for providing their own closed-toed shoes, hats, and gloves. Water will also be provided for event participants.

“Volunteers can arrive and leave whenever they need to,” said Bullhead City Administrative Analyst Karen Spletzer, who is organizing the City’s contribution to the clean-up event. “We appreciate whatever time you can give.”

Civic minded groups and individuals interested in helping to beautify the desert are encouraged to contact Karen Spletzer at kspletzer@bullheadcityaz.gov or 928-763-0122.
