City of Kingman Joins Community Partners for Day of Caring, April 4

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman’s Day of Caring will take place Saturday, April 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. River Cities United Way, along with City of Kingman Solid Waste Department and the Clean City Commission, have been organizing this event and providing supplies for the past several years to help insure event success. Volunteers can meet at 2202 Hualapai Mountain Road (Foothills Bank) to receive their supplies for cleanup.

We would like to caution motorists around the city that volunteers will be out along roadways, so to use extra caution as these volunteers work to beautify the city. Volunteers need to be aware of traffic and should face toward the direction of traffic when close to the road.

To register for the event, please visit: https://fundraise.givesmart.com/e/pRMBnQ?vid=1lfcns

In conjunction with the Day of Caring, the City of Kingman will provide dumpsters throughout the weekend to give City of Kingman residents an opportunity to dispose of extra household trash. Dumpsters will be located at the following intersections starting Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5:

* Topeka Street & Santa Fe Avenue

* Oak Street & 7th Street

* Wilshire Avenue & 4th Street

To ensure safety and proper disposal, the following items will NOT be accepted in the dumpsters:

* Hazardous Waste: Paint, solvents, pesticides, waste oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs or lamps, batteries, explosives, or flammable materials

* Medical Waste: Infectious or medical waste, prescription drugs, biological waste

* Construction Materials: Rock, bricks, dirt, block, gravel, concrete, shingles, drywall, tile, mortar (wet or dry), sod

* Auto Parts & Appliances: Tires and appliances containing freon

The City of Kingman is also partnering with local organizations to offer additional opportunities for residents to safely dispose of household and electronic waste. A Free Technology Recycling Drive will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., hosted by the Mohave Community College Computer/Console Club, at the City of Kingman Public Works Yard (3700 E. Andy Devine Avenue). A Free Residential Household Hazardous Waste Event will follow on Sunday, April 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Motor Vehicle Division (3670 E. Andy Devine Avenue) in partnership with Mohave County.

The City of Kingman encourages residents to take part in these efforts to help keep the community clean, safe, and beautiful.
