Covid-19 and Mother’s Day

Dear Editor, I wish mom were still here so I could take her out to Sunday dinner. The problem with Sunday dinner this Mother’s Day is that most of the restaurants either won’t be open yet or operating under new guidelines. Restaurants make their biggest payday of the year typically on Mother’s Day. Even in states that are wide open for dining there is the problem of social distancing. Can you imagine this week going to a restaurant that only is allowed 25% occupancy or maybe 50% occupancy at best? Many states will still be closed tight this Sunday adding…

A reasonable period of sober introspection and calm discussion however, is likely to result in some measurable reduction in personal stress. Former…

Take precautions when hiking

Dear Editor, My neighbor loves to hike in the desert, wears only boots, shorts, and a hat. Yes, he’s a man. Friday morning he knocked on my door. He was covered in cactus, his back was loaded with jumping cholla cactus, not to mention 100 thorns. Being handicapped, my caregiver who is loaded in medical degrees, jumped into action, got needle-nose pliers and tweezers, and started pulling out the large cactus. I helped with the small thorns. My story to you, if going hiking, carry a staff, a large stick as tall as you, watch for rocks that might flip…
