Shooting victim dies

KINGMAN – The Kingman man arrested for separate shootings five hours apart last week is facing a second-degree murder charge following the death of one of the victims. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies located the wounded subject after responding to a north Kingman residence in the 2600 block of Potter Ave at 9:39 p.m. on March 3. MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said Steven Lee Fritz, 49, Kingman, was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the chest. She said Fritz was subsequently flown to a Las Vegas hospital where he died of his injuries. Annual fog sealing begins today

LAKE HAVASU CITY – In an effort to preserve our roadways, The Lake Havasu City Public Works Department is announcing the start of its Fog Seal Program. This project is for five weeks and is today, Monday, March 8. The fog sealing process is an efficient and cost effective method of prolonging the useable service life of asphalt pavement. Residents and businesses, located along streets being improved, will receive notice at least five days in advance of the construction and again 24-hours prior to the work. KINGMAN – Slow-paced repairs have a popular downtown Kingman eatery tracking for reopening this spring. Like other restaurants, Calico’s was struggling through the pandemic when a ceiling and rooftop fire prompted its closure on Aug. 30. New trusses are installed and the building on Beale St. has a brand-new roof. Co-owner Rhonda Chapman said Calico’s could reopen in a couple of months. “I was hoping for April, but now I’m hoping for May,” Chapman said.
