Saluzzo works to restore military aircraft

Local military historian Tom Saluzzo shows off his newly acquired UC-45J aircraft, to Richard
Masci on the flight line at the Kingman Airport. This particular airplane started its life in 1943 as
an AT-7 Navigator trainer with the army Air Force. It was transferred to the navy post war and
served until 1972 as a UC-45J Transport. Saluzzo’s goal is to restore the aircraft to a static display status and place it somewhere that the public can see it and admire a piece of military history that trained flight crews across three decades. Despite it being a rather large undertaking, it is one he is determined to make happen to better tell the story of those who have served. Photo courtesy TSgt. T. Merrill, USAFR Ret
