PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department is excited to announce the winners of its annual wildlife photo contest.

The 12 winning photographs are included in the full-size 2025 wildlife calendar that is published in the November-December 2024 issue of Arizona Wildlife Views magazine. Subscriptions ordered through Dec. 31, 2024, will receive the calendar issue, while supplies last, and also get free issue(s) added to the order. The calendar also will be sold at all Arizona Game and Fish offices for $3 starting in mid-November. For more on the Arizona Wildlife Views magazine, click here.

Kingman Girl Scout leader recognized for volunteerism

KINGMAN – A Girl Scout leader of more than 30 years received a prestigious award for her work with the community.

Grace Ricca-Runge, 68, and a lifelong resident of Kingman, was the recipient of the Girl Scouts of America Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) Impact Award in Phoenix Nov. 9 recognizing her volunteerism, leadership and enthusiasm for Girl Scouts.

Ricca has been leading Troop 1090 for 33 years. She’s also a co-service team manager, neighborhood treasurer and has been managing the Camp Stephens Girl Scout camp in the Hualapai Mountains since 1997.

AZGFD biologists successfully reintroduce endangered black-footed ferrets to Aubrey Valley

Seligman, Ariz. — For the first time in almost 30 years, Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) biologists performed a re-introduction of ten endangered black-footed ferrets to the once-flourishing Aubrey Valley/Double O Ranch area, attempting to re-populate the only active recovery spot in Arizona.

LAUGHLIN, Nev. – Aquarius and Edgewater are hosting a silent auction of nine uniquely themed Christmas trees adorned with hundreds of festive ornaments and shimmering lights, including Everything Elf, Santa, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Snowman, A Country Christmas, Christmas Movies, Christmas Wonderland Woodland Creatures, Coca-Cola Arctic Christmas, and Patriotic.

Six trees have already been sold, leaving Patriotic, A Country Christmas and Christmas Wonderland Woodland Creatures still available.

Owens receives accolades for support of veterans

Jack Alexander, owner of Thunder-Rode thanks longtime resident and Kingman supporter Linda Owens and presents her with a Certificate of Appreciation for her continued support for the veterans of Kingman and Mohave County. Owens provides and makes available at no charge, seating for veterans in front of the Thunder-Rode so that veterans and their families can enjoy viewing parades in comfort. She has provided seating for the Andy Devine Days Parade, the Veterans Day Parade and other events held on Beale St. in downtown Kingman. Owens has been providing this service to the community and the honoring veterans for many years.
