PHOENIX – Children who have experienced abuse or neglect can be involved with multiple systems—the court system, the child welfare system, the health care system, and the school system. As a result, returning to school can be difficult and unpredictable, with a lot to juggle.

The start of a new school year can be overwhelming, but it can be especially challenging for children in foster care. Children removed from their homes are sometimes faced with having to switch schools, and the work of a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

KINGMAN – The 51st Annual Pumpkin Patrol will be accepting donations of individual candy or cash donations to fund giving out for this year’s Halloween. Donations will be accepted from now until October 24. You may drop off candy or monetary donations at the Kingman Police Department, 2730 E Andy Devine Ave, Monday through Thursday between seven a.m. and six p.m. You may mail donations to the department or make other arrangements if necessary. KINGMAN – No one was injured in a Wednesday, Sept. 11 residential structure fire in Kingman. Fire Department personnel responded at 7:21 pm to the incident in the 600 block of Windsor Ave.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The chief executive officers of Kroger and Albertsons insisted Wednesday — under questioning from the federal government — that merging would allow the two supermarket companies to lower prices and more effectively compete with retail giants like Walmart, Costco and Amazon.

Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen and Albertsons CEO Vivek Sankaran appeared in Oregon’s U.S. District Court to testify against the Federal Trade Commission’s attempt to block the proposed merger of their companies.
