Cameron convicted; faces up to 50 years in prison

A Mohave County superior court jury returned guilty verdicts in the trial of a man accused of sexually abusing his adopted daughter in Golden Valley. The jury deliberated for a little less than three hours on July 24 before convicting Shawn Cameron, 43, of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual conduct with a minor and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Prosecutor Greg McPhillips told the jury that the woman who is now 20 years old first remembers being abused around the age of five in California. Capital One announced a massive data breach on Monday, July 29, reporting a hacker accessed the information of over 100 million Americans who have applied for credit cards, since 2005, which contained consumers’ personal information including names, addresses, zip codes, email addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth. Schizophrenic man sentenced to 10 years for stabbing incident

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A sentencing hearing last month for a Lake Havasu City man who stabbed his father lacked some suspense because prison punishment was mandated in the plea agreement convicting Markos Martinez, 22, of two aggravated assault charges. “The Court has no discretion,” said Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert. “I’m sending you to prison for 10 years.
