Bald eagle breeding season kicks off, leads to restrictions

Outdoor recreationists, pilots and drone operators asked to avoid bald eagle nest areas Arizona’s bald eagles are back and they will soon be working on the next generation of eagles at breeding sites statewide.  To assist with the state’s continued bald eagle population growth, the Arizona Game and Fish Department encourages outdoor recreationists, aircraft pilots, drone operators and motorized paragliders to do their part by not disturbing the state’s 89 eagle breeding areas. 911: Call if you can, text if you can’t in outlying areas

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it is now capable of accepting text to 911 emergency text messages to the dispatch center from the unincorporated areas of Mohave County. Lake Havasu City is already capable of accepting text to 911 emergency text messages. Currently, the cities of Kingman and Bullhead do not have this capability and text to 911 will not work if you are inside those city limits. Desert Riders put on Seventh Annual Toy Run

KINGMAN – On Sunday, Dec. 15, the Desert Road Riders Motorcycle Club put on their 7th Toy Run. The motorcycle riders met up at American Legion Post 15 and made their way to Hooch’s Grille, with Santa leading the caravan. There were already close to a hundred people lined up and cheering the motorcade on as they entered Hooch’s parking lot. Santa took to the front of the line, and beckoned excited children, asking them about Christmas. Kingman Republican Women swear in new officers at luncheon

At a Saturday, Dec. 14 meeting of the Kingman Republican Women, new officers were installed by Mohave County District 4 Supervisor Jean Bishop at Dam Bar Steak House. Nancy Moschcau was installed as new President; Kim Casey as Second Vice-President; Barbara Carpenter as Secretary; and Penny Holden as Treasurer. Newly installed First Vice-President Cindy Landa Cox was not able to attend the meeting. Senate candidate Daniel McCarthy was the guest speaker. 4-H members play Santa’s elves for a day

Members of the Mohave County 4-H Interstate Exchange Club played Santa’s elves recently to help with the Senior Angel Tree at the Kingman City Complex and also the Children Angel Tree at Kingman Regional Medical Center. The 4-H Exchange Club members and leaders spent an afternoon shopping to fulfill the wishes and needs of 25 seniors and children, which included three new bicycles and lots of shoes and toys. The shopping spree was made possible by a donation from Dwayne Patterson, Re/Max Prestige Property Realty.
