HACKBERRY – On September 9, 1982, citizens out in the rural desert around Hackberry Road outside of Kingman city limits came across human remains. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the scene and recovered the remains, also collecting a plastic hair comb, a rusty can opener, rusty fingernail clippers, a toothbrush, a tattered short-sleeve shirt, leather belt fragments, remnants of denim pants, and an argyle sock. The human remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Tucson, where an autopsy determined the victim to be a white male, 55+ years old, between 6’1” to 6’2”. A cause…

Valles gets five years for child porn

BULLHEAD CITY – Possession of child pornography results in a five-year prison term for a Bullhead City man. The punishment imposed Oct. 6 by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle was mandated in a plea agreement convicting Richard Valles, 43, of two charges reduced to attempted exploitation of a minor. Other charges are dismissed in the deal resolving the case arising from seizure of images from devices during a May search of Valles’ home in the 300 block of Rio Grande Court. Judge Carlisle ordered that Valles will serve 20 years probation upon his release from prison.

Judge Billy Sipe ordered the double decade incarceration for Dennis McDaniel, 68, during a Friday sentencing hearing.
