Lions Club hosts Yes for Kingman Schools Committee Chairman

KINGMAN – The public is invited to the Kingman Mohave Lions Club meeting Thursday October 10, at noon with guest speaker Gary Waters, Committee Chairman of Yes for Kingman Schools and advocate for the school bond. Waters will be speaking about the upcoming Kingman Unified School District Bond vote, including why he believes the bond should be supported, and what a yes vote will accomplish for KUSD and its students, teachers and staff. Burn ban, wind advisory issues for Colorado River area

BULLHEAD CITY – Due to anticipated gusty north winds and critical fire weather conditions- Bullhead City Fire Marshal Jim Dykens has implemented a No Burn Ban beginning today, Oct. 9, through Friday, Oct. 11, ending at 8 a.m. The National Weather Service advised: gusty north winds of 35 to 45 mph will spread across the region Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. Strongest winds will be along and near the Colorado River Valley, where wind gusts to 50 to 60 mph will be possible Wednesday night through Friday morning. BULLHEAD CITY – Join the Bullhead City Regional Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit Christian Organization, for their ground breaking ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10. Three deaths are under investigation

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is conducting three death investigations. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said one of them began as a missing person case. Authorities had been looking for Bruce Downey, a 70-year-old Kingman man who was last seen on September 29. Mortensen said Downey’s body was found Sunday afternoon in a desert area near Shinarump Drive, off Interstate 40. Downey’s body was transported to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy and cause of death determination.
