An error was made on Page 13 of the Oct. 23 edition of The Standard. The Kingman Parks & Recreation Department will not be holding a Fall Festival this year. The Luv of Paws Howl & Meow will be held on Oct. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. The Gardens and Cerbat Lanes will not be holding a Trick-or-Treat event this year.
LAKE HAVASU CITY – Shortly after noon yesterday Oct. 24, a vegetation fire was reported in the area near Mesquite Bay Fishing Pier (just north of Palo Verde N). The strong winds quickly drove a surface fire to the south along the water’s edge, producing heavy smoke in the area. The fire department established structure protection in the Quail Ridge development and allowed the fire to progress with the wind. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) awarded the Lake Havasu City Police Department a grant of $30,178 to be used to conduct increased traffic enforcement and to purchase radar tracking equipment. The S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) grant provides the Lake Havasu City Police Department the funds needed to increase traffic enforcement capabilities by assigning personnel on overtime to concentrate on speed enforcement activities. Increased traffic enforcement reduces incidences of traffic fatalities and injuries resulting from speeding, aggressive driving, red light running and other forms of risky driving behavior through enforcement, education and public awareness, which makes our roads…
KINGMAN – The monthly movie at Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will be held Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. This month’s movie is Libeled Lady starring Jean Harlow, William Powell, Myrna Loy, and Spencer Tracy. Steve Conn will provide historical and behind the scenes commentary before the movie starts. Cost to attend is a $2 donation with benefits KHAC’s programs. Upper Iowa University has announced that Sara Saban of Lake Havasu City, graduated with a Bachelor/Science: Nursing degree in Nursing in July. Founded in 1857, Upper Iowa University is a private, nonprofit university in Fayette, Iowa.
