GOLDEN VALLEY – We love painting with the American Legion Group. This group is a ton of fun and they love their paint days. Come paint a patriotic truck at the American Legion Post located at 3435 N Verde Rd. on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. Bring a snack to share with the group and enjoy a libation or two at the bar. KINGMAN – Kingman Freethinkers have announced that Raúl Martínez, past Board Member of the American Humanist Association (AHA) will be visiting Kingman on Tuesday, March 17. What is Humanism? If you affirm a commitment to a rational philosophy informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion, you may be a humanist. Boaters safety evacuated from blaze

LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Division of Boating Safety responded to a reported boat fire in the middle of the North Basin on Lake Havasu. According to an MCSO spokesperson, the three boat occupants had made it onto other boats that were in the area, and were not injured. Deputies, utilizing their patrol boat outboard motors, were able to extinguish the fire. The boat was salvaged by a local tow company. LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Saturday, February 8, McCulloch Boulevard is closed for the Annual Winterfest Street Festival, from Acoma Boulevard to Smoketree Avenue, beginning at 2:30 a.m., and reopens at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9. The hours of the Winterfest event are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8 and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9. Please exercise additional caution when traveling in these areas, and pay special attention to all signage, markings, volunteers and law enforcement.
