7.5 million people visited LMNRA in 2019

Lake Mead National Recreation Area welcomed 7.5 million recreation visitors to the park in 2019. It is the sixth most visited park in the entire National Park Service. An additional 7.6 million visitors traveled along main state highways and interstates in the park, including I-11. The park saw spikes in visitation at its Henderson, North Las Vegas, Overton and Bullhead City entry points, as well as an increase in visitation at Hemenway Harbor near Boulder City. Kemp to receive Lily Mae Hester Scholarship

KINGMAN – Kingman’s own, Erika Kemp, is this year’s 2020 recipient of the Lily Mae Hester Scholarship through the United States Bowling Congress. Kemp, senior at Lee Williams High School, has been bowling since the age of seven, and is a member of the Youth Bowling League. She is a member of the National Honors Society, Senior Class President, Student Council, American Sign Language and FBLA, just to name a few. KPD annual report for 2019 presented

Criminal case clearance rate is higher than national average Retiring Kingman Police Chief Bob Devries presented his last annual report during the March 3 City Council meeting. His biggest regret is that some manpower challenges limited Kingman Police Department (KPD) proactivity in 2019. “We did see a decline in our traffic stops,” Devries said. “We had a significant drop but our traffic division was cut and our officers were down by 20%.” Devries told council members arrest numbers were down slightly in 2019 but still pretty consistent with recent year’s past. BYO’s goal is to try to “de-trash” the city with particular emphasis on our relationship to plastics. BYO wants to familiarize individuals with the various ways available in the handling of plastics in their lives and their community.           The group’s goal is to encourage becoming  a more effective consumer by adopting BYO behavior, bringing your own BYO bag/container, for purchases, thus avoiding reliance on others  to provide such articles.
