Ghost town residents get food relief

CHLORIDE – Desert Wonder Tours partnered with the Salvation Army, Sonoran Prevention Works and volunteers to distribute 57 food boxes to Chloride, a small mining ghost town. Chloride’s citizens have been without food bank services for weeks with the added loss of the lone store in the town which has been shut down due to shortages. Desert Wonder Tours, a local tour company originating from Laughlin, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Las Vegas and Kingman, is shuttered but not inactive during the pandemic and looks forward to resuming exciting adventures for its clients when the pandemic ends. Mother had been struck and killed by vehicle Three bear cubs rescued last April after their mother was hit and killed by a vehicle near Oracle, Ariz., were released back into the wild last week in a remote area in central Arizona. The release was conducted by the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) in collaboration with the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center (SWCC). MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Department of Public Health in conjunction with the Mohave County Department of Procurement is working on procuring at least a half a million 3-ply surgical face masks that will be distributed to local hospitals and first responders. Bullhead City marks 29th virus case for county

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Department of Public Health (MCDPH)-Nursing staff was notified today of a positive COVID-19 case in the Bullhead City service area. The individual is in the 65+ age range, and is isolated and recovering at home. This case is epidemiologically-linked to a previous case. County nurses are currently in the process of the contact investigation. This new case brings to 29 the total positives cases in the county. There are now 14 positive confirmed cases in the Lake Havasu City area, including the two deaths, eleven in Kingman, and four in Bullhead City.

KINGMAN –The City of Kingman is recognizing Utility Billing team member Janice B. for her life saving efforts. Kingman City Manager Ron Foggin, along with Fire Chief Jake Rhoades, and Utility Billing and Finance members presented Janice with a “Life Saving Award.” While helping a customer pay her utility bill over the phone, Janice immediately noticed that something was wrong with the customer, because of her impaired speech. FT. MOHAVE – Elite Southwest Holdings will develop a solar power project in Fort Mohave following separate actions at the April 6 Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting. The board voted 4-1 in support of rezoning and a general plan amendment required for the 32-megawatt facility that will provide power for the Bullhead City-based Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC).
