Teen hiker dies after succumbing to heat

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A 14-year-old girl died after running out of water and suffering severe heat-related illness while hiking with family members in Lake Havasu City. Fire Department personnel responded at 10:53 a.m. Sunday after learning a teenager was in distress. The victim who was located about 100 yards from the SARA Park Trailhead was rushed to Havasu Regional Medical Center. Fire Department spokeswoman Terrie Haas said did not know and is not at liberty to indicate how much time transpired before the girl died. MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Sunday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 7 new COVID-19 confirmed cases on this Sunday. Five of the cases are in the Bullhead City service area and the remaining two are in the Lake Havasu City service area. All five Bullhead City area cases are still under investigation. KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is continuing striping operations, with white roadway markings starting Monday, July 13. Typical times will be from 5:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Crews are finishing the striping operations with white striping, as the yellow striping took place in late May. Crews will only occupy one lane, and in most areas, drivers will be able to drive around striping vehicles, however we ask drivers to use caution around crews.
