Airport parcel purchased

KINGMAN – A Colorado-based development company submitted the only bid for a 30-acre parcel at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park. KiernanWest LLC offered the minimum $1,975,000 required for the purchase in a bid opened Friday. Chief Operating Officer Mike O’Brien said the company isn’t ready to divulge details at this point. “We are doing a build to suit for a tenant that does package delivery,” O’Brien said. “Outside of that our tenant requires a high degree of confidentiality.” O’Brien said it may be a couple of months or more before project details are made public. Ride-In Movie and Game Night

OATMAN – On Oct. 9, there will be a Ride-In Movie and Game Night located at Saddle Sore Ranch off Oatman Hwy between mile markers 36 and 37. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Favorite cult classics and old motorcycles movies will be shown, with special VIP parking for motorcycles. Games will include cornhole, giant Jenga, card games, checkers, and more. Donations will be accepted to help cover generator fuel, firewood, etc. expenses. Everyone is welcome! MOHAVE COUNTY – The Special Judicial Officer Selection Commission has invited 4 of the 7 applicants to interview for Mohave County Court Commissioner. The bench seat was vacated last month when Megan McCoy was promoted to Superior Court Judge in place of the Honorable Charles Gurtler who retired June 1. The 4 applicants have been invited to interview Monday with panel member Judges Lee Jantzen and Rick Lambert, Attorney Bryan Whitney, County Supervisor Jean Bishop, and Kingman resident Becky Fawson. NAFD split talks continue

MOHAVE COUNTY – A controversial proposal to split off the northern portion of the Northern Arizona Fire District (NAFD) to create a new district was debated at length during Monday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. 30 citizens spent 90 minutes commenting during a public hearing that reflected deep division. Proponents contend that residents of the rural communities of Valle Vista, Truxton and Hackberry north of Kingman are poorly served by NAFD, which is administered by Kingman Fire Department leadership under an intergovernmental agreement with the city.
