Housing event offers free assistance

KINGMAN – WACOG will host a housing programs event on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Mohave County Community Services Mezanine Room, 700 W. Beale St.

20th Annual Alpaca Farm Days

KINGMAN – Alpacas of the Southwest is hosting its 20th Annual Alpaca Farm Days on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 and 6. Come meet and greet their 28 alpacas. Feed them, pet them, take pictures. Several local artisans on site with unique handmade items for purchase. Mohave County Rock & Gem Club will have a large booth with lots of cool gemstones. Special event on Saturday as the High Desert Astronomy Club of Kingman will have solar telescopes on hand. Visit the Ranch Store to experience luxury alpaca products, Kiddos can visit the Arts & Craft Cabin to create an art project to take home.

WACOG hosts play day for seniors

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG), hosted a Reach Out and Play event last week with the seniors of our community. WACOG is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering communities through their various programs. Reach Out and Play day took place on Wednesday. Sept. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church’s Memory Cafe.

WACOG’s programs provide assistance for children, healthcare, housing support, and senior outreach.

LHHS band gearing up for performance season

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu High School’s Band of Knights were very busy last week preparing for their school year’s upcoming performances. The school’s band performed a live pre-production show on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the school’s main football field. Music instructors for the band invited family, friends, and parents to watch the band’s first ever performance for their 2024 show titled Black Swan.  

Other songs included in the rehearsal were famous ones like The show Must Go On by Queen and My Immortal by Evanescence.

Sasquatch Hunt in on

KINGMAN – The bigfoot hunt (max. 5 miles/5 hours) is on in the Hualapai Mountains on Saturday, Oct. 5. Participants will be given a Sasquatch Field Guide and an event swag bag. The event will begin with an educational briefing from a local Sasquatch and outdoor survival specialist. The hunt will take place in the lower elevations of Hualapai Mountain Park from Rec Area #1 up to the Main Trailhead and everywhere in between. There have been multiple sightings in two different locations and there may be two creatures inching ever closer to civilization. The first three participants to find each Sasquatch will receive a special award.
