The Mohave Community College Governing Board will meet on June 13 to vote on the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget. “The budget is balanced, with zero debt, and the vast majority will continue to be dedicated to instruction and student support,” said Interim MCC President Dr. Diana Stithem. UniSource Energy Services electric customers will enjoy summer bill savings that average more than $21 per month thanks to reduced natural gas and power prices. The Arizona Corporation Commission approved UniSource’s request to apply an energy cost credit of 1.85 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to its electric bills from June 1 to Sept. 30. A new National Park Service report shows that 7.6 million visitors to Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 2018 spent an estimated $336 million in local gateway communities while visiting the park. These expenditures supported a total of 3,990 jobs, $149 million in labor income, $247 million in value added and $397 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The peer-reviewed visitor spending analysis was conducted by economists Catherine Cullinane Thomas and Egan Cornachione of the U.S. Geological Survey and Lynne Koontz of the National Park Service. A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that the 6.3 million visitors to Grand Canyon National Park in 2018 spent $947 million in communities near the park. The National Park Service is seeking public comment on a draft plan that provides recommendations to improve accessibility of visitor services at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.  An interdisciplinary team, including park and regional staff, identified key park experiences and park areas to determine which areas would be evaluated for accessibility needs. The team then developed implementation strategies for improving accessibility at each location.  The plan will guide changes to the way existing services, activities and programs are provided in multiple locations throughout Lake Mead National Recreation Area by defining what barriers limit accessibility and by providing recommendations on how…
