KINGMAN – The Kingman Police Department (KPD) has been awarded accreditation status by the Arizona Association of Chief of Police (AACOP) through its Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP). The award was made on Thursday, September 12, during the AACOP annual conference in Laughlin, Nev. KPD had an on-site assessment on August 5 and 6. The assessors were Deputy Chief Reuben Nuñez from the Marana Police Department and Assistant Chief Bruce Walls from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona has created a $50,000 endowment at Northern Arizona University (NAU) for the preservation and promotion of Arizona Route 66 history. The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona’s mission is to preserve, promote, and protect Route 66 in Arizona, so it was a natural fit for the Association to create an endowment at NAU’s Cline Library to help preserve Route 66 history. Working together with archivists from the Cline Library, the association donated their historical records to be archived in 2017.
