LAKE HAVASU CITY – A free safety presentation for older adults is offered on Thursday, January 16, at the Havasu Regional Medical Center Learning Center, located at 1785 McCulloch Boulevard North. There are two presentations to choose from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. This one-hour interactive presentation is designed to keep community-dwelling adults over the age of 65 independent, active, and safe.  Statistics show that unintentional falls are the leading cause of injury-related mortality among Arizona residents 65 years and older, accounting for thousands of hospitalizations, and an average of two deaths every day…

Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s first meeting of the new year on January 3 was Mike Meersman, Director of Parks, Recreation, Golf and Aquatics for the City of Kingman (shown above with club Rotarian Tom Clark). Among the topics discussed, Meersman noted a shade structure is being added at Firefighters Park, a new 2-1/2 mile trail, White Cliffs Wagon Wheel Trail, is in the works, and Fort Beale Loop Trail has been upgraded and its parking area increased. Lane restrictions and closures in effect KINGMAN – Construction for the Castlerock Road waterline replacement, between Andy Devine Avenue and Gordon Drive began Monday, January 6. There will be lane restrictions and street closures along this section through April. During this project, all businesses will remain open and accessible during regular business hours. No water service delays or disruptions are scheduled to take place during business hours. This project is to improve water flow to existing water customers. MOHAVE COUNTY – The gavel changed hands during Monday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting, the first of the new year. Supervisor Jean Bishop will serve as Chairman in 2020 after Hildy Angius led the board during 2019. Neighbors who opposed a photovoltaic solar energy project in Fort Mohave were pleased that the Board took no action on three items involving the development project. They applauded when they learned that the property owner has withdrawn and shelved the project.
