Park saw 40,000 visitors last Saturday March 23, 2020 (BOULDER CITY, Nevada) – Lake Mead National Recreation Area, in response to Nevada Declaration of Emergency Directive 003 issued by the Governor of the State of Nevada, is announcing additional modifications to operations to support federal, state and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  Lake Mead National Recreation Area is the sixth most visited unit of the National Park Service. Grand Canyon –  Grand Canyon National Park has announced modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House,  Centers for Disease Control & Prevention  (CDC), and local and state authorities to promote public safety. As of, March 24, Grand Canyon river rafting trips including administrative, research, private and commercial trips, are suspended until May 21. Resumption of river trips will be evaluated in mid-April pending current CDC guidance and options to reschedule trips will be provided at a future date.
