Grand Canyon National Park transitions to limited services
GRAND CANYON – Grand Canyon National Park is announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and local and state authorities. As of 12 p.m. on March 20, 2020, all Xanterra operated services within Grand Canyon National Park including lodges, restaurants and tours will suspend until May 21, 2020. As of March 22, 2020, the Yavapai Lodge, operated by Delaware North, will close until May 1, 2020. Kingman city offices to close for two weeks
Staffing levels maintained to handle customer service by telephone, email KINGMAN – Beginning Monday, March 23, all city buildings (except the Municipal Courthouse) will be closed to all public access until at least April 6. Based on guidelines issued by the President of the United States, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Arizona State Department of Health Services, the continued spread of COVID-19 is posing an increased public health risk, by not following those guidelines. BOS meeting update
Mohave County Supervisors will conduct another special Board meeting Friday to tackle various subjects involving the coronavirus outbreak. The Board is set to convene the session at 1:00 p.m. at the county administration building in downtown Kingman. Possible temporary closures of library facilities and fine waivers for return of overdue books will be considered. Policy questions involving permits and special events will also be addressed. County Manager announces retirement
MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Manager Mike Hendrix is retiring. Hendrix has informed the Board of Supervisors he will not seek contract renewal and intends to step down at the end of the current fiscal year, a little more than three months from now. Hendrix was first employed by Mohave County on May 7, 1984. Hendrix worked his way up the ranks of the Public Works Director before he became a Director of the Department. He retired but began working as County Administrator under a contract on December 31, 2014. Hendrix was later promoted from Administrator to Manager. He informed…

GRAND CANYON – Grand Canyon National Park is announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and local and state authorities to promote social distancing. As of today, March 19, restaurants within the park are closed until further notice. Some of the dining facilities may offer takeaway options. Updates and a complete list of the park’s modified operations will be posted on: www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/grand-canyon-national-park-public-health-update.htm .
