TV district taxation under scrutiny

MOHAVE COUNTY – Complaints about taxation without service has prompted the Board of Supervisors to direct staff to investigate and report on the coverage area of the Mohave County Television District. Supervisor Ron Gould raised the issue following a Santa Fe Ranch property owner association resolution alleging its more than 2,700 members pay the county TV District tax but cannot get reception where they live outside Yucca. “We should not be taxing people if we’re not planning on ever giving them service,” association member Tim Krug said during Tuesday’s board meeting in Kingman. Pay raise approved for mayor, city council

KINGMAN – The Kingman City council voted Tuesday to increase pay for future mayors and council members. Vice Mayor Travis Lingenfelter and Council member Jamie Scott Stehly were in the minority of the 5-2 vote. “I probably won’t have any friends after I say this but I feel that you don’t do this (job) for the money. MOHAVE COUNTY – Member Buster Johnson’s suggested conversion to a two-year budget cycle was voted down 3-2 at Tuesday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting. Johnson and Supervisor Ron Gould offered minority support for a plan Johnson believes will save time and money. Johnson said some of the time-consuming budget building blocks can be assembled every other year, while still allowing departments to make any necessary numerical changes annually.
