MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Manager Mike Hendrix is retiring. Hendrix has informed the Board of Supervisors he will not seek contract renewal and intends to step down at the end of the current fiscal year, a little more than three months from now. Hendrix was first employed by Mohave County on May 7, 1984. Hendrix worked his way up the ranks of the Public Works Director before he became a Director of the Department. GRAND CANYON – Grand Canyon National Park is announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House,  Centers for Disease Control & Prevention  (CDC), and local and state authorities to promote social distancing. As of today, March 19, restaurants within the park are closed until further notice. Some of the dining facilities may offer takeaway options. KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management, Kingman Field Office has issued a Decision Record and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based on the analysis provided in the Phase III Moss Mine Expansion and Exploration Project Environmental Assessment (EA). The Decision Record approves the proposed action, which is the mining plan of operation for the silver and gold mine, as submitted by the Golden Vertex Corp. with the incorporated environmental protection measures. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County supervisors have scheduled a special Friday, March 20, board meeting involving the coronavirus. Board Chairman Jean Bishop said she anticipates discussion of possible further restrictions related to library operation. Bishop said personnel matters must also be addressed as the county contemplates making distinctions between essential and non-essential services, employee leave and working from home scenarios. KINGMAN – The Kingman “Powerhouse” Visitor Center is tentatively adjusting its hours of operation beginning March 22. The new hours of operation will be Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., closed Sundays and Mondays. The decision to temporarily adjust opening hours came in light of the reliance on volunteers, and to accommodate some team members who are home with children, while schools are closed. The new hours of operation should only be observed through April 6, but the Visitor Center will monitor staffing levels to ensure proper customer service levels.
