Campaign violations corrected

MOHAVE COUNTY – Campaign finance law violations have been resolved by former Mohave County Dist. 1 Sup. candidate Jim Hamersley. A complaint by former Dist. 1 Sup. candidate Becky Foster resulted in conclusion of violation by the County Elections and Attorney offices.

Deputy county attorney Ryan Esplin sent Hamersley a notice of violation for failing to complete his initial statement of campaign organization. Esplin said Hamersley also failed to delineate self-funded campaign expenditures totaling just under $26,000 for the Aug. 2020 primary election.

Both violations were corrected in amended elections office filings last month. No sanction or other consequence results.

Foster said she filed her complaint as a matter of principle. Foster, Hamersley and others were defeated by Dist. 1 Sup. Travis Lingenfelter.

Another Foster allegation that Hamersley committed fraud with a false residency claim remains under county attorney’s office review.
