Bullhead City has commission, board seats open

BULLHEAD CITY – The City of Bullhead City has various commission and board seats available for citizens to serve. The City Clerk’s Office is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering for the following positions:

The BATS Commission makes recommendations to the Bullhead City Council regarding the development and maintenance of a public transportation system for the city. The BATS Commission meets quarterly on the first Monday of February, May, August, and November, and holds special meetings as required. Two seats on the BATS Commission are currently available with partial terms expiring on September 30.

The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals of actions taken by the Zoning Administrator, and meets on an as-needed basis. Two seats with two-year terms are available.

The Board of Appeals determines the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and provides reasonable interpretation of the International Building Code. This Board meets infrequently on an as-needed basis.  Two seats are available with partial terms expiring on June 30.

The Parks and Recreation Commission provides recommendations to the City Council regarding the planning, development, operation, and maintenance of city-owned parks and recreational programs, and meets on a monthly basis. Three seats with two-year terms are available.

The Planning and Zoning Commission provides recommendations to the City Council as to the best present and future use to which land and buildings shall be put within the city, and meets on a monthly basis. Four seats with two-year terms are available.

To be eligible, an applicant should have a general understanding of the issues addressed by the Commission or Board seat they are applying for and reside within the Bullhead City limits.

Appointments are made by the Bullhead City Council.  Those submitting applications to the City Clerk prior to June 5, at 5:00 p.m. will be considered for appointment at the June 16, City Council meeting.  Applicants are invited to attend this meeting.
