KINGMAN – People join the Metcalf Park in Downtown Kingman to observe Kingman’s new Act Two Tumbleweed Theatre present their first ever performance. With Act One for families, and Act Two for adults, guests are sure to enjoy the performance.
Act Two Tumbleweed invited The Standard to join them at MCC for their rehearsal, where they practiced various songs and scenes featured in Bites Off Broadway.
“We were just founded back in October. People really seemed interested in a new theater company that focuses more on an older age group. We don’t really have a home theatre, that’s what makes us the tumbleweed theater, we’ll be just going where the wind blows, but it seems our home stage for now will be Metcalf Park,” said president and founder Andrew.
“Bites Off Broadway is a theatrical showcase. We will be pulling a bunch of scenes from a bunch of different shows, both from on and off Broadway, and it’s a great way to showcase both the artists of the community as well as art itself. We’ll do scenes from the show Something Rotten, Check, Please, Wicked, many others. So this will be the company’s debut. I’m just really excited to see where things move on and just show the fruits of our first labor. We are partnering with the college for our next show. We have auditions for Hamlet next week. That will be a joint production between act two theater and MCC’s Bighorn Drama Club,” he continued.
Vice President and primary sound person Malachi stated, “Our mission statement says we want to broaden the artistic horizons of Mohave County. Even though I’ll be stepping down, I’m excited for this company’s future prospects.” Incoming vice President Taylor followed up with, “I will be playing Veronica Sawyer from Heathers.”
Noelani McElroy will be playing Kathy from The Last Five Years, and her favorite act is What Is This Feeling by Wicked.”
Hiram Schurz will be seen most prominently as Beetlejuice. “Performing The Whole Being Dead Thing, and my favorite act is going to be Blood in the Water,” he said.
General board member Tonaleia’s biggest role is Janice in Mean Girls.
Luna, the Community Outreach Director will be doing stage managing. “My favorite scene has to be “The Whole Being Dead Thing,” she said.

Act Two Tumbleweed is in the midst of earning their 501 C3. Act Two Tumbleweed and Bites off Broadway is a tribute to Andrew’s dear friend who has passed, Petra Kar.
