Interchange bids unveiled

 A Tempe firm has submitted the apparent low bid to construct the first of three Interstate 40 Traffic Interchanges (TI) in Kingman. Six companies were plan holders but only four of them formally bid for the West Kingman Beale Street TI.    The Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. bid of $106.5-million is about 9% below the $115-million state estimate. Other bids opened in Phoenix on Friday include: $123.4-million from FNF Construction, Inc. Tempe, $143.7-million from Granite Construction Company, Tucson and $168-million from Scottsdale-based Pulice Construction, Inc.    ADOT expects analysis of submissions will lead to bid award in the spring,…

KINGMAN – Law enforcement authorities were still looking for a second suspect Tuesday after shooting another man who reportedly brandished a firearm and robbed Mission Bank Monday. Kingman police responded to a 9-1-1 robbery report at the business in the 2400 block of Hualapai Mountain road late Monday morning. “The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen by witnesses leaving the area in a gray truck,” said deputy Kingman police chief Joel Freed. Arizona bill aims to reclaim social equity licenses from investors, corporate marijuana dispensaries

Arizona lawmakers are pushing to return social equity licenses for marijuana dispensaries to their original owners, alleging private investors and cannabis corporations used predatory tactics to seize control of nearly all the lucrative licenses.  Senate Bill 1262, introduced by Republican Sen. Sonny Borrelli, seeks to restore power to those the state’s social equity program was actually meant to benefit: people from marginalized communities disproportionately affected by past marijuana convictions. KINGMAN – A 15-year prison term has been imposed for a Bullhead City woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for a deadly traffic accident in Golden Valley. The punishment that Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen ordered for Lidia Tapia, 51, was stipulated in the plea deal that dismissed a number of other charges. Michael Bunes, 51, Golden Valley, was fatally injured when ejected after the Expedition he was operating was rear-ended by Tapia’s eastbound Toyota Camry on highway 68 at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2022. His partner mourned the loss of Bunes during the sentencing hearing….
