Bank robber shot; another sought

KINGMAN – Law enforcement authorities were still looking for a second suspect Tuesday after shooting another man who reportedly brandished a firearm and robbed Mission Bank Monday. Kingman police responded to a 9-1-1 robbery report at the business in the 2400 block of Hualapai Mountain road late Monday morning.

“The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen by witnesses leaving the area in a gray truck,” said deputy Kingman police chief Joel Freed. He said officers located the vehicle and the suspect at a business in the 2500 block of Kingman Ave., at about 11:10 a.m.

“It is alleged that the suspect brandished a firearm, at which time the officers fired at the suspect,” Freed said.?The suspect who was shot multiple times was in critical condition when transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and was flown to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

Freed said it was determined a second suspect was in the truck as it fled the bank. “There is no description available of this second subject, but the community is urged to use caution and report any unusual or suspicious behavior.”

Officers were not hurt during the incident. The Lake Havasu City Police Department will conduct an independent investigation, standard protocol in officer involved shootings.
