It seems that a wagon train of the early settlers were cross through on their way to California when the Arizona winds began to blow harder than usual. Andy Devine Avenue milling and paving to begin May 13

Milling and paving of Andy Devine Avenue from Stockton Hill Road to Michael Street (before the I-40 Interchange), will begin Monday, May 13 through Thursday, June 6. All businesses will remain open throughout the project, and crews will maintain business access with proper signage to direct the motoring public in and out of businesses safely. Life jacket exchange events kick off Safe Boating Week on Saturday, May 18

Safe Boating Week is on the horizon and the Arizona Game and Fish Department will kick off the national campaign locally with multiple life jacket exchange events at area lakes Saturday, May 18. Now in its 11th year, the Life Jacket Exchange program allows people with an old, worn out life jacket to swap it for a new one (while supplies last). The Dig It Kingman Community Garden at 2301 Lillie Avenue invites the community to Southwestern Gardening Day on May 18 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. This children’s event features a special program presented by the Hualapai Cultural Green Arrow Gardening Project. Probation lasts 15 minutes as he pays fine A former Kingman area fire chief convicted of conflict of interest by a jury of his peers entered Friday’s sentencing hearing with the threat of jail hanging over his head. Wayne Eder, 55, and his throng of supporters left the Mohave County courthouse jubilant that a local judge imposed the most lenient sentence possible, boosting his hope of returning to the fire service industry to continue his career. Goldstrike, White Rock Canyon Trails close for season May 15

The Goldstrike and White Rock Canyon trails located within Lake Mead National Recreation Area will close for the season May 15 through Sept. 30. Park management implemented seasonal closures on these trails in 2014 after public safety incidents significantly increased. Goldstrike Canyon is a strenuous hike, requiring bouldering and climbing. It leads to multiple hot springs and the Colorado River. The area known as White Rock Canyon has multiple trails leading to the Arizona Hot Spring, Liberty Bell Arch and the Colorado River.
