Board of Supervisors approves soil stabilization and constructions for several roads

MOHAVE COUNTY – For some Mohave County drivers, it will be “smooth sailing” and less wear and tear on their vehicles due to a recent approval of an agenda item by the Board of Supervisors at their monthly meeting. The County’s Road Division currently maintains more than 2,000 miles of roads of which 802.96 miles are paved. However, because of the recent approval by the Board of Supervisors, more than 30 more miles will receive soil stabilization and/or construction starting in the fiscal year 2019-2020. Cliff dive ends in death of teenager

A back flip cliff dive into Lake Havasu proved fatal for a California teenager. The victim of the Friday accident is identified as Chance Huerta, 16, Victorville. The Mohave County sheriff’s office said Huerta landed wrong after he jumped into the lake near Mohave Rock about 4:20 p.m. “The victim came to the surface briefly, before witnesses on scene lost sight of him,” said spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. Side scan sonar located the victim’s body which was recovered by divers at 9:15 a.m. Saturday.

Kevin Gifford promoted to captain

Golden Valley Fire District Fire Chief David Cunningham administers the oath during the swearing-in ceremony to Kevin Gifford upon his promotion from engineer to captain at the recent GVFD board meeting. Captain Gifford began his employment with GVFD during September 2011 and was previously was a firefighter with Pinion Pines Fire District prior to being employed by GVFD. KINGMAN – Arizona Claus Cause will host their annual Christmas in July Car Show & Shine on Friday, July 19 in the Walmart parking lot. Dear Editor, Having just read in the Kingman Daily Miner, the article on the resurgent “Indivisible” movement in Kingman, I am struck by numerous inconsistencies. The article’s banner promoting a local progressive revolution is a quite clear statement of intent. It does however raise the question, what flavor of progressive? Is it a desire to progress toward clean and safe gang-free streets to go with a drug free culture and safe, clean housing? Should we expect full employment and schools that produce motivated, productive young citizens? Or is it the desire to have progressive leadership that fosters massive tent cities…
